Therapy Process
Our first appointment together is a time for me to get to know you – your story, your struggle, your strengths. We will begin by talking about what has brought you to where you are now and to recognize where you want to heal and how you envision thriving.
From there we will work together and consider the unique experiences, relationships, lenses, beliefs and skills that have shaped you. We will look at the messages you’ve internalized and the truths you want to fully believe. We will talk about skills you can use as you move toward a place of healing and wholeness.
Therapy is deeply relational and because of this you can expect the length of the process to vary depending on the skills you’re hoping to learn and implement; often taking months or sometimes a year or longer. The work we do together will be tailored to your needs and we will find a pace that is most comfortable to you.
We can work together to create a rhythm that works best for you or you can choose a way to begin from below:
- “Working Through”: A chance to make solid gains and achieve your therapy goals. One 50-80 min session per week.
- “Moderate Support”: Supportive therapy to help you maintain good functioning and reinforce your gains. One 50-80 min session every other week.
- “Check-Ins”: 30 min phone calls
*Should you choose, we may decide to take a perspective that specifically focuses on abilities, strengths and personality as a foundation of healing and thriving. Through a few additional assessments we would glean helpful information about how you are uniquely designed. Check with me if you are interested in this route of counseling.
